His works are eclectic in themes and techniques, and he uses a diverse range of mediums and methods.

Many of his paintings explore the relationship between the viewer’s perceptions of texture and subject, by recreating granular qualities of stone and glassy reflections of water.

A slightly surreal feeling is evoked by this painting, the choice of colours lend it extraordinary depth, the classic curves of the cobb make this a distinctive composition.

Neptunes Daughter
Neptunetriton
Mixed media on board 24" x 32" £2800

Neptune’s Daughter was inspired by the sinking in Lyme Bay, of the container ship, Napoli, in early 2007. The environmental tragedy that followed with oiled wildlife and poisoned water, encouraged Neil to paint this fantasy image of the sea god Neptune finding his daughter poisoned by the pollution. He saw it as a suitable symbol for the beauty that is unintentionally destroyed and the helplessness of those who are affected by the fall out of these events.

Rock Fish

Acrylic on canvas with applied mixed media, £125

A technique of muti-layering thick coats of paint and then scrapeing back through to carve out an image.

Bliss, undoubtedly owes its existence to the inspirational works of Klimpt, the painting is executed with multiple oil glazes to render fine seductive flesh tones. Then it was given a luxurious boarder of gold leaf to make it glow like an icon. Unabashed eroticism.
